Capitol Draws Up P57M Seaport, Road, Garbage Facility Projects

A coastal facility, road improvement, bridge repair and garbage disposal system projects will roll out this year after the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has approved the P57.565 million infrastructure plans during its regular session held on Monday, July 3.

These structural projects include a technical training building, school edifices, garbage facilities and park improvement.

Compostela port

With the board’s unanimous endorsement, at least P10 million will be set aside for the development and construction of a shoreline protection for Compostela seaport, which is part of the town’s development plan to open a route for passenger vessels to Lapu-Lapu City.

The port will allow commuters from northern Cebu to avoid traffic congestion in Liloan, Consolacion and Mandaue.

Garbage system

Governor Hilario P. Davide III will also prepare for the clustered construction of materials recovery facilities (MRF) in all sixteen provincial and district hospitals with Cluster I costing around of P1.6 million.

These MRF or garbage disposal systems will ensure a safe waste disposing method in health facilities in Cebu.

Cluster I facilities include provincial hospitals in Danao City, Bogo City and Balamban, Ricardo Maningo Memorial Hospital in Camotes island, and district hospitals in Daanbantayan, Bantayan, and Tuburan.

Cluster II, with a total construction cost of P1.5 million, includes district hospitals in Minglanilla, Badian, Barili and Oslob towns.

The provincial hospital in Carcar City, Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao, Mariano J. Cuenco Memorial hospital in Malabuyoc and Dr. Jose Ma. Borromeo Memorial Hospital in Pinamungajan are also included in Cluster 2.

Roads and bridges

At least P13.962 million was also set aside for concreting and improvement of the road pavement located between Ylaya-Katangkas-Pawa section in Dumanjug town while Guindaruhan Bridge in Minglanilla will undergo reconstruction with an approved P6 million budget.

Capitol will also jump-start another school building construction in Liloan, Danao City, Poro and San Francisco with an allocation of P6.173 million. Each edifice has two classrooms that can accommodate at least 42 students.

Moreover, the province will bankroll the installation of railings in the Alegria Heritage Park with a P2 million project fund.
