Capitol Distributes Relief Goods to Mandaue Fire Victims
The Provincial Government distributed more than Php 104,000 worth of relief goods to 68 families whose houses were gutted by fire in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.
Each family were given mat, blanket, tumblers, plates, mosquito net, cauldron, three kilos of rice, four canned fish and two packs of noodles.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) distributed the goods with the assistance of City SWDO and Paknaan barangay officials.
The fire incident took place last March 17. As the assistance continued to flow, the victims were thankful since they are still grappling for normalcy one week after the incident.
The residents said this was the third that they were able to receive relief goods from the government. But they said what they needed more now is financial assistance to rebuild their homes.
“Karon, naggamit lang mi ug trapal nga gihatag sa city hall aron naa mi temporaryo kapasilongan. Mas mayo jud unta kung naay pinansyal nga hinabang para makapalit mi ug materyales (Currenty, we are just using tarpaulins to build a temporary shelter. It would really help much if we are given financial assistance so that we can buy housing materials),” said Judith Rosal whose house was totally destroyed.
