Capitol Distributes P1.9M Cash In Oslob, Inaugurates Projects

The provincial government distributed P1.885 million financial assistance and cash incentives in the town of Oslob, south of Cebu last February 5.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale also ceremonially inaugurated the expanded emergency room (ER) of the Oslob District Hospital.

Second district Congressman Wilfredo Caminero also attended the activities.

The expansion was worth almost P1 million. The ER can now accommodate 28 patients from 19 patients before. The hospital caters patients from the towns of Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, and Samboan.

Aside from the new ER, the hospital also has newly-constructed operating room (OR), labor room, delivery room and recovery room.

These were part of the expansion project of the Department of Health under its facility enhancement program.

According to Hospital Chief Dr. Renato Cairo, they can now perform minor surgeries. The first case they treated is a bilateral tubal ligation last June.

The hospital has five (5) resident doctors including Cairo. They have two (2) OR nurses and another two nurses are scheduled for training.

Vice Gov.Magpale said the Capitol has contracted 39 medical specialists province-wide.

Gov. Davide, who prioritizes health in his governance, challenged Cairo to maximize the use of OR. He said that only extreme cases should be referred to higher-level hospitals.

For the indigent patients, Vice Gov.Magpale reiterated that the Capitol has implemented the point of care program of Philhealth.

The program applies to indigent patients who are not yet insured. The Philhealth personnel at the hospital will enroll the indigent patients on the spot. Hence, they will not pay anything.

The financial assistance, which totaled to P1.3 million were given to 13 barangays for the food security of the senior citizens and indigents.

The P585,000 cash incentives were distributed to 309 barangay workers. The barangay health workers, day care workers, and barangay nutrition scholars received P2,400 each while the tanods and animal health aides were given P1,500 each.

Caminero and the provincial officials also led the ceremonial inauguration of infrastructure projects in four (4) barangays in Oslob.

These include the two covered courts in Barangays Hagdan and Mainit worth P2 million each. There was also a ribbon cutting and blessing ceremonies of the P4.8 million road project in Barangay Luka.

Lastly, the officials also visited the almost nine (9) kilometer-road opening project in Barangay Cansaloay. Cansaloay Barangay Captain Acelino Baguio is already around 50 percent complete.

All these infrastructure projects were implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
