Cable Car Cebu Presents Memory in Present Tense

Cable Car Cebu in cooperation with Sonicpop Group presents “Memory in Present Tense” featuring 40 The Band.

40 The Band is one of the pioneer bands in the Cebu music scene that had hits like “Rain” and “What I Say”. Their songs had a lot of radio airplay on local radio stations and was also part of the groundbreaking album “Mango Jam : Best of New Cebu Music Vol. 1”. Their songs were mostly under the new wave genre which also was famous in America and Europe at the time.

New wave music is an umbrella term for several late-1970s to mid-1980s pop/rock musical styles with ties to 1970s punk rock. The new wave sound of the late 1970s moved away from the smooth blues and rock & roll sounds to create music with a twitchy, agitated feel, choppy rhythm guitars and fast tempos. Initially—as with the later post-punk—new wave was broadly analogous to punk rock before branching as a distinctly identified genre, incorporating electronic/experimental music, mod, disco and pop. It subsequently engendered subgenres and fusions, including New Romantic and gothic rock.

Memory in Present Tense featuring 40 The Band will happen this November 20, 2014 Thursday at Cable Car Cebu. Opening acts include Psychomonkey, Melancholy and the Spirals.

Venue is located at Maria Luisa Rd., Gov. Cuenco Ave., 6000 Cebu City. Entrance fee is at 200.00 pesos. Cds will also be sold at the venue.

See you there !
