Bulacan Maximizes Use of Social Media in Fight vs HIV/AIDS
Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO), maximizes the use of social media to promote health programs, raise awareness, and prevent spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
PPHO has partnered with Bulacan State University for #ThinkPositive which is a social media campaign that promotes HIV awareness to residents particularly the youth on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
“We are hopeful that through this campaign, the youth and members of the LGBT Community can learn more about the ways on how to prevent acquiring the said virus,” Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said in a statement.
“The purpose of the program is not just for raising awareness but also to eliminate discrimination towards People Living with HIV,” Alvarado furthered.
At present, there are three HIV Treatment Hubs in the province, which offer pre and post-test counseling, HIV testing, and free antiretroviral therapy medications.
They are the Luntiang Silong of Bulacan Medical Center, Gintong Kanlungan of the Guiguinto Rural Health Unit II, and Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose Del Monte. (CLJD/VFC-PIA 3)
