Bulacan Guv Likens Duterte Presidency to a ‘Good Family’
Newly sworn-in Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado likened the incoming administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to a “good family,” saying that if there is discipline, obedience and love, the Chief Executive will be free to focus on pertinent national concerns and issues.
“If a family is a good one, the barangay captain will have no headaches. Same as, if there is no problem with the mayor and also with the governor, our President will have no headaches with the local officials for he can the focus to the other problems of our country. But, we also need his help,” Alvarado said during a press conference after the mass oath taking of Bulacan officials at the capitol gym here on Thursday.
Alvarado told media men that he is glad that there is now a strong-willed leader who can address major headaches of the country like drugs, crime and environmental issues like mining.
He said that President Duterte made a good choice in appointing Gina Lopez as Environment Secretary.
Meanwhile, the lead organizer of the Yes for Peace-bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Kasaganahan, said he loves the words of the new President of the Republic, which he quoted as “We have to listen to the murmurings of the people..Erosion of trust and confidence in government is the real problem…You mind your own work and I will mind mine…If that change is significant and permanent must start from us and by us.. I abhor secrecy and advocate transparency..Implement all signed peace agreements, we must ensure inclusivity in the peace process.”
Alcanzare said that finally there is a President who is indeed “yes for peace.”
Hagonoy Mayor Raulito “Amboy” Manlapaz, for his part, said that ever since he was still a village chief he was already mimicking the hard stance of President Duterte in the fight against illegal drugs and criminality and his good leadership in running Davao City, making it the most peaceful and clean city in the country.
“I do believe that he (President Duterte) can eradicate problem on illegal drugs because there are many local officials who will follow him,” Manlapaz said. (PNA) FFC/ZST/EGGAMOS/PS
