BSP Holds Financial Education Congress for the Youth
Around 1,000 college students from Isabela province to the Bicol region shall take part in the congress that promotes understanding of the value of money; financial products for the youth; building and managing credit and innovative products; and the use of technology.
Experts from banking and financial organizations, the two largest telecommunication companies and the BSP shall serve as resource persons for the whole day event.
A key component of the youth congress is “U Can Make a Difference,” a video-making contest that highlights the capability of the youth to deliver financial literacy messages.
The winner, who shall receive Php 75,000 as prize from the BSP, shall be selected from ten finalists who have been chosen from an initial pool of candidates. The finalists’ videos can now be viewed at the BSP’s Facebook page.
The youth congress also features exhibits on the financial learning initiatives of the BSP and its partner government agencies as well as financial institutions and telecommunication firms.
The event is aimed at empowering the youth by providing them with the skills and know-how to make informed financial decisions.
With more than 50 percent of the country’s population younger than 25 years old, the BSP fosters financial learning among the youth in view of their potential to become active partners for financial stability and sustained economic growth.
The congress is spearheaded by the BSP’s Financial Consumer Protection Department and is a key component of the BSP’s Economic and Financial Learning Program.
