BSP, Banks Still Exchange Old Bank Notes

Roxas City – Capiceños who still have with them the New Design Series (NDS) bank notes or old notes have until the end of the year to exchange them.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Capiz Branch Information Officer Ma. Karenz Odchigue reminded anew those who are still keeping their old bank notes to have it exchanged through the banks.

“They can also have said old bank notes exchanged through our BSP Office here,” she said, adding that they can exchange it either through banks or the BSP free of charge.

Odchigue also reminded the judicial courts to inform their office in writing of the NDS bank notes that are in the court’s possession as part of the ongoing litigation.

“This is for the BSP to have information as to the volume of NDS bank notes that need to be set aside to cater to exchanges intended for them as soon as the cases, which involve such bank notes has been decided upon, ” she explained.

The BSP likewise called on Overseas Filipinos to log on to the BSP website (.bsp.gov.ph) starting October 1, 2016 until December 31, 2016 and register the amount of NDS bank notes that are still in their possession.

The OFs are given one year from the date of registration to have their NDS bank notes exchanged in the country, it said.

The move is part of the demonetization process of the old bank notes. (JCM/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
