Broken Dreams
As children bring their broken toys
With tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God
Because He was my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him
In peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help
With ways that were my own.
At last I snatched them back and cried,
“How could you be so slow”
“My child,” He said, “What could I do?
You never did let go.”

Many of us are like the child in the poem, aren’t we? It’s so painful to find out later on, that we were our own culprits in the delayed blessings which were supposedly intended for us. Similar to the Israelites, what could have taken them a day to enter the promise land, took them 40 years of wandering in the desert before landing on it.
For us, it also means having been susceptible to the unplanned hardships and heartaches we harbored, which we could have been spared of if we just obeyed. I am guilty of this. We all are guilty of this. I have a story to tell in relation to this, we all have a story to tell about this. If we want to have our ‘brokenness’ fixed right, obey God and let Him do the orchestrating and you will never regret!
For broken dreams, trust God and let Him do the fixing.
