BPI Customers Experience Transaction Delays Due to High Weekend Activity
Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) customers faced delays in essential banking services due to a surge in weekend transactions, primarily tax payments, today, April 16, 2024.
In a Facebook post, BPI said that their services which include ATM withdrawals, CAM deposits, Debit Card purchases, BPI app, BPI online, and the use of BPI online credentials for payments and loading via third-party apps were not available as of 9:20 AM.
The cause of the temporary unavailability of services was said to be an unusually high volume of weekend transactions, primarily attributed to tax payments.
BPI assured customers that they were actively addressing the situation and aimed to complete the processing before noon. They expressed gratitude for customers’ patience and understanding during this time.
Another update was issued at 12:51 PM on the same day where BPI said the transaction processing was still taking longer than anticipated.
At around 2:40 PM, BPI said that the mentioned services were now restored.
BPI expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and understanding throughout the resolution process.
“We have resolved the unavailability of ATM withdrawals, CAM deposits, Debit Card purchases, access to the BPI app and BPI online, as well as using BPI online credentials for payments and loading via third-party apps. You may now resume your everyday banking transactions. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” BPI said in a Facebook post.
BPI advises its customers to get updated through official BPI channels for the latest information on service restoration and any further advisories. (ASC)
