BOPK Bets for Cebu City File CoCs
Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) candidates led by former Cebu City mayor and congressman Tomas Osmeña filed the certificates of candidacy shortly before noon Thursday at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Cebu City north district office.
Osmeña, an ally of the Liberal Party, is challenging the second re-election of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama. He ran against Rama in the 2010 elections, but lost to his former ally by some 6,000 votes.
Osmeña’s running mate is Nestor Archival, the number one councilor in the city’s north district.
Incumbent Representatives Rodrigo “Bebot” Abellanosa and Raul del Mar will seek reelection under the BOPK in the city’s south and north congressional districts, respectively.
BOPK’s candidates for councilors in the north district are reelectionist Councilors Sisinio Andales, Alvin Dizon, Alvin Arcilla, Nida Cabrera and Mary Ann de los Santos, former vice mayor Joy Augustus Young, Malou Tabar and Garry Lao.
BOPK candidates for councilor in the south district are reelectionist Councilors Margarita Osmeña and Eugenio Gabuya, Ann Palomo, Engr. Randy Navarro, radio personality Goliath Nacorda, former professional basketball player Bonel Balingit, Danilo Pacaña and Victor Buendia.
The BOPK candidates first heard Mass at the St. Therese Parish in Barangay Apas, Cebu City before filing their CoCs.
Candidates under Team Rama of Mayor Michael Rama are set to file their CoCs on Friday. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
