Boom-Boom Settles Fine Vs. Anti-Littering Ordinance
Popular Boholano boxer Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista has finally paid P1,000 to Cebu City government to settle his obligation after he was charged in court for violating a city ordinance that prohibit anyone from urinating in public places.
Boom-boom was compelled to pay the fine after the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) had sent him a subpoena directing him to submit his counter-affidavit to the case filed by the City Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Team (CESET) headed by Grace Luardo.
The boxer was caught by CESET enforcer Roberto Menguito while on the act of urinating beside the road in North Reclamation Area (NRA) that prompted him to apprehend Boom-boom and issued him a citation ticket for violating City Ordinance 1361 or the city’s Anti-Littering Ordinance.
City Ordinance 1361 also penalizes spitting in public places, even throwing a cigarette butt or candy wrappers.
Luardo said Menguito was able to recognize Boom-boom because the former is a boxing fan.
After the lapse of several weeks, Boom-boom failed to settle his case before CESET, prompting Luardo to file the case in court.
“Pag-ari niya sir, wala na man masuko si sir Boom-boom. Na-busy lang kuno siya mao nga wala dayon niya ma-settle ang iyang kaso,” said Luardo.
