Bong Go Aides Fire Victims in Cebu

Special assistant to the President and senator elect Christopher “Bong” Go visited Cebu to aide fire victims and to also personally give gratitude to everyone who supported him in the midterm elections.

Go, along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and National Housing Authority (NHA) went to Sitio Puntod and Huyong-huyong in Barangay Mambaling to distribute grocery packs, meals, clothing and school supplies to 615 individuals who were left homeless after a fire incident on May 31st this year.

Around 105 houses were said to be damaged by the fire in Mambaling.

Fire victims are currently situated at a covered court for temporary shelter.

“Nia mi diri para muhatod ug hinabang sa inyung tanan, unsa inyung kinanglan ora mismo, aksyon dayon (We are here to deliver what you need),” Go said during his speech in front of his supporters.

Action stars Phillip Salvador and Robin Padilla also joined the activity and showed support to Go and to the people.

Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino was also present during the activity.

Go also explained that they are continuing to develop and expand the Malasakit Center in the whole country to provide world class health care to the Filipinos.

“Ito ay makakatulong naman po sa mga kababayan natin at isa po ito sa i-institutionalize ko po at paramihin pa ito at palawakin sa buong bansa (This [Malaskit Center] can really help the Filipino people and this is one of the things that I will have to institutionalize and expand in the country),” Go said.

Go explained that the Malasakit Center is intended for all Filipinos regardless their political affiliation and preference.

“Walay requirements na, wala nay ID ID, adto mo didto, as long as Filipino mo, para inyuha na (You don’t need any requirements nor ID, as long as you’re a Filipino you can avail healthcare),” Go said.

There are currently 34 Malasakit Centers in the Philippines and counting.

Meanwhile, Barangay Mambaling Captain Ginnes Abellana promised to focus on the fire victims to give them what they need.

Go also pledged that he will sponsor the children’s school uniforms and school supplies.

After his speech, Go enjoyed a “boodle fight” meal with Phillip Salvador, Robin Padilla and a group of tricycle drivers in the area.

After his visit in Barangay Mambaling, Go then went straight to Barangay Carreta where 187 families were also affected by a fire incident.

Go won the senatorial race during the midterm elections on May 13 being the top 3 with 20,657,702 votes nationwide. (MLC)
