Bomba Family Affair

This Friday, August 15th 2014 at Handuraw Pizza Gorordo, Bomba Press is proud to bring us all a family affair with a very special guest, Mr. Danny Caing,

Danny Caing’s name may be familiar as the supportive father of two recognized musicians in the Cebu music scene, however, he himself is a very prolific musician who has penned hundreds (if not thousands) of songs through the decades.

Last year, Bomba Press shared a part of a tape they acquired of his former band, June 12, to the internet where it went moderately viral. A fixture in the Manila music scene as chronicler of “Rakrakan Na Tayo”, he has recently started playing gigs again in various small venues.

Family affair will also have performance from Smooth Friction, Teetan, and The Pervs.

TEETAN headed by Christian Linaban just released their first album last March 2014 under Bomba Press. Their sound which fused Cebuano lyrics, tribal – infused grooves and voodoo chants is described as a doomsday soundtrack for the future cyborg takeover.

Part of Vandals on the Wall’s List of Most Anticipated Filipino Releases of 2014, the punk, garage rock band THE PERVS have already recorded 6 tracks for their up and coming album under Bomba Press. Two tracks have already been debuted, “ Wind- Up Frogs” and “ Counting Sheep” on Soundcloud and Ndfy.

THE PERVS are composed of Ernest Dino on Vocals, Bugs Asylum on Guitars, Rapi Secson on Bass and Karl Lucente on Drums.

SMOOTH FRICTION is a band that plays a fusion of Blues, Rock, Classical, Metal, Standard, Jazz, RnB, Electronika and other musical styles they’ve grown up with including “kundiman” (Phil. Folk Music).

Based in Cebu, they are considered as one of the pioneering DIY musical artists in Vis-Min area, innovative, provocative, and fiercely independent-minded bands out there locally, and sometimes considered as musical pranksters by their contemporaries best known for their live performance antics, timeless tunes and sexualy induced lyrics. Started in 2000 and not sticking to one particular music genre their debut twin album was released in 2001.
