Bomb Parts Used in Boston Marathon, Recovered
FBI to circulate photos of bomb remains to track source of explosive device.
The bomb recovered in the Boston Marathon revealed a pressure cooker filled with metal and ball bearings. The explosives which blasted at the finish line of the Boston Marathon last Monday took away three lives and injured 176 people.
According to a federal law enforcement official, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a joint bulletin which approve the dissemination of the photos of the remains of the bomb. The circulation of the photos may help in tracking the source of the elements used in the “improvised explosive device (IED)”.
In a report, mangled parts of a pressure cooker bomb that included wires, shrapnel and a circuit board were recovered by the law enforcement. A shredded black backpack was also recovered which they suspected that was made to be the explosive device’s container.
An official said that it was unclear whether the devices were remotely detonated or included timers. Consequently, there are no statement regarding any groups who could possibly be the source of the attack.
It has been reported that technicians of the FBI’s national laboratory will try to reconstruct the explosive devices.
