Bohol Inks MOA with AirAsia for ‘Visit Bohol 2015’ on 118th CPG Day

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Provincial Government of Bohol and AirAsia for the Visit Bohol 2015 Tourism Action Plan highlighted the 118th birth anniversary of the late Boholano President Carlos Polestico Garcia.

The tourism action plan was approved during the last Provincial Development Council executive meeting which is in support of the 2015 Visit Philippines Year program of the national government.

AirAsia President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Joy Cañeba inked the MOA with Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto with the presence of Department of Tourism (DOT) Assistant Secretary for International Promotions, Benito Bengzon Jr. supporting the 2015 Visit Bohol tourism action plan.

Bengzon was the guest speaker of the 118th CPG Day commemorative program where the character and achievements of the province’s most illustrious son were celebrated through the pursuit of greater developments for Bohol.

The assistant secretary cited the self-confidence that complemented the entrepreneurial capacity of Filipinos, as given emphasis by the most illustrious son of Bohol has been manifested in the daring tourism endeavors of Boholanos.

“To many, President CPG was best known as a nationalist who believed in the capacity and entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino,” according to Bengzon.

He referred to Pres. CPG as a great man who brought pride not only to the province of Bohol but to the entire country and the commemoration of the late Boholano President’s 118th birth anniversary was a way to remember his achievements and contributions to nation-building.

Earlier, Chatto and the Provincial Board headed by Vice Gov. Concepcion Lim led the commemorative activities that began at 7:30am with the flag raising, 21 gun salute and wreath-laying ceremonies at CPG Park at the New Capitol Site this city.

A Eucharistic Celebration followed at the Bohol Cultural Center at 8:30am attended by the national agencies, provincial and city government employees.

A commemorative program followed as a tribute to the 4th President of the Republic wherein scholars under the CPG Scholarship Program were recognized during the program.

Outstanding Boholanos were conferred the Pres. CPG Awards namely: Engr. Jes Tirol for Historical Research and Language Advocacy, Isabelito Tongco for Public Service, Rosalio Ortiz for Visual Arts and Catalino Salarda for Music Advocacy.

A special citation was also given to Rian Marco Tirol, Batang Pinoy 2013 National Championship Gold Medalist and Palarong Pambansa 2014 Finalist.

November 4 has been declared as a special non-working holiday in the province of Bohol under Republic Act No. 7448 to commemorate the birth of Pres. Garcia. (mbcn/ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
