BMW Group Sales In January Hit New Record
German car producer BMW Group reported on Wednesday that 152,879 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles were sold in January, registering a year-on-year increase of 7.5 percent and hitting a new sales record.
“We are pleased to see the sustainable levels of growth we achieved in 2015 continuing into this year,” said Ian Robertson, member of the board of management of BMW AG responsible for global sales and marketing.
“Despite many markets showing continuing volatility, we remain optimistic that this positive trend will continue through 2016, our company’s centenary year,” he added.
In Asia, deliveries of BMW and MINI vehicles increased by 9.8 percent 59,522 compared with last January. Alone on the market of Chinese mainland, a total of 43,441 vehicles were delivered to customers, up 8.4 percent year-on-year, according to a company statement.
In 2015, the BMW Group reported to have sold around 2.25 million cars and nearly 137,000 motorcycles worldwide. The Bavarian company is to celebrate its 100th anniversary in March this year. (PNA/Xinhua) FFC/EBP
