Published

on

BMW has announced a changes coming to ConnectedDrive, which gets integration with Apple’s Siri Eye Free and Samsung’s S Voice for BMW models in 2014.

BMW iDrive will be updated to 4.2 firmware that supports web browsing and iAP Bluetooth control through iOS devices. One particular change the announcement specifies is a new auto time-changing feature for those who drive into locations in a different time zone, and when Daylight Savings time rolls around.

This new revision will also deliver voice search for locations using Google, and ConnectedDrive Store which allows you to purchase services without having to leave the car.

In addition, BMW will add support for Android apps later this year. It also wants cellular services to be commonplace. Many of its cars will have built-in SIM cards from July onward, and the company expects that cellular access will eventually be standard in i-series cars, where it’s needed for remote control.
