Bicycle brand TRINX Bike Bicycle Sport Technology Corp. (TBSTC), a Filipino and Chinese joint venture, will be establishing a bicycle manufacturing plant in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

TBSTC’s operations is to start in September in their P356 million bike manufacturing plant.

The Board of Investments (BOI) has approved the plant’s construction under the export activities category of the 2020 Investments Priorities Plan (IPP).

The new manufacturing plant will initially employ 65 workers up to 100 on their fifth year of operation.

The plant can manufacture 200,000 units of road and mountain bikes, foldable electric bikes, and other bike variants.

75% of the manufactured bikes are imported to the United States and Europe, while the other 25% will be sold in the Philippines.

BOI Head and Trade Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said that the establishment of the bike manufacturing plant in Bulacan will employ more Filipinos and will supply the local demand for bicycles and electric bikes in the country.

“This is timely and relevant, as it will not only supply the local demand for bicycles and electric bikes but also strengthen our position as a net exporter of bicycles with strong demand from overseas markets, including those in which we enjoy zero-duties under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) scheme,” said Rodolfo.

Guangzhou-based Trinity Group owns 40 percent of TBSTC, which has over 1,000 sales outlets in China.

Aside from the new plant in Bulacan, TBSTC already has three bicycle assembly lines and 14 painting production lines in Russia, India, America, and Thailand. (ASC)
