BFP-7 Celebrates Fire Prevention Month
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas (BFP)-7 celebrates the fire prevention month this March with “Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan”.
Dubbed as “Matuto ka, sunog iwasan na”, the program aims to help the community to be properly informed about what to do when a fire incident breaks.
SINSP. Ethel Margaha, chief of the fire safety enforcement division, BFP-7 said their office is enforcing and implementing the current rules and regulation.
“Ang atong programa ang pag implementar sa atong balaod, nanaog ta sa mga komunidad,” said Margaha.
Margaha said that the usual inspection only happens in business establishments but through the said program, they will further penetrate into residential areas.
“Atong gi raise ang ilang awareness level, gi apil gyud nato ang residential parts,” said Margaha.
BFP-7 is now conducting house-to-house risk assessment and they encouraged barangay to make their own group to spread information and awareness in the respective areas through capacity building.
Margaha revealed 3 major factors of the said program. Inspection, where the house-to-house inspection and assessment belong. Education campaign, individuals especially those who stay home often are educated on safety
tips to prevent fire. Lastly, empowerment on every volunteer brigade. (MLC)
