The Benguet State University (BSU) recently launched its  online store “Tatak BSU” to showcase and promote the institution’s products including those of local entrepreneurs.

Managed by the University Business Affairs Office, the online store is part of the production services of the university. Among state universities and colleges (SUCs), BSU is the first to establish its online store.

University Business Affairs Office Director Josel Florentin said this is an innovation of the university tapping online marketing “because we want our goods to reach a greater number of people and because we believe our products are good and their quality is competitive.”

BSU President Feliciano Calora Jr. conceptualized the online store in 2016, and tapped Tatak BSU Administrator Sheryl Fernando to make it materialize.

It took a year to work on the building of the website and test run in November last year to address bugs and other issues and concerns, said Fernando.

With 50 BSU products such as bread, cakes, pastries, cookies, candies, jams, among others, the online store is now accepting online orders.

Fernando said they plan to work with “Go Negosyo” and local entrepreneurs and explore the possibility of partnering with a company servicing online payment scheme, and to collaborate with other SUCs and go beyond the region.
