“Instead of just complaining for the different problems in our city, let us be united and be part of the change we wanted for a better Cebu City,” thus said Cebu City Mayor Angel Letrondo.

The new chief executive of this Queen City of the South led other new city officials and department heads in the “Know Your City Government” program as they were formally introduced before the thousands of Cebu City Government employees and assumed office for one day right after the regular Flag-raising Ceremony on Monday.

Letrondro, who is from the Cebu City National Science High School and the new President of the Cebu City Federation of Supreme Student Council and Governments in Secondary Level further enthuses, in an interview with the BARUGG News, that with the “Know Your City Government” program her negative perception about politicians and the government has changed.

“This job is not a joke,” she quips, adding that, “I learned so many things about the programs and projects of the Cebu City Government headed by Mayor Michael L Rama.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Rama inspired the present craft of young leaders in the city whom he referred as the future leaders of the city. He cited that we have to be reminded that we are public servants and that our thrusts and direction must respond correctly to the needs of the youth.

For the uninformed the city is guided by its mission which is to bring back the hope of the youth and children to trust Government thru quick and quality super service with accountability, responsibility and transparency.

Mayor Rama underscored that the “Know Your City Government” is among the youth programs he introduced way back his stints as a city councilor to expose the young leaders to the different roles and functions of the city officials and the services, programs and projects of the city.

This year, a total of 46 students from both Public and Private Schools in the city got the chance to experience the nitty-gritty of being a public servant and to broaden their outlook about the city government.

Furthermore the activity is spearheaded by the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP) in collaboration with the Cebu City Youth Development Commission (CCYDC).
