‘Bayan Ko Linis Ko’ Gets Gov’t Support
Iloilo City — National government agencies (NGAs) and local government units (LGUs) here pledged support to the National Clean-Up Activity under the “Bayan Ko Linis Ko” program on September 17, 2016.
The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-6 said that the program will involve all sectors in Western Visayas including NGAs, LGUs, non-government organizations, academic institutions, civil society groups, private sector, among others.
EMB-6 said that the national clean-up activity aims to promote cleanliness in coastal and inland waterways, esteros, creeks, public places, parks, schools, churches, public and private establishments and all other areas nationwide.
Likewise, the program will mobilize all LGUs in the country for a one-day clean-up with the participation of all sectors in the society.
The “Bayan Ko Linis Ko” program also strengthens the implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Meanwhile, EMB-6 said that the Iloilo City government has pledged the participation of the 180 barangays of the city in the nationwide clean-up program.
Aside from the barangays, the clean-up will also be conducted in seven public plazas, three public cemeteries, Esplanade 1 and 2, and in Adopt-an-Estero areas.
The month of September is declared as “National Clean-up Month” as per Proclamation No. 244 Series of 1993. (JCM/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
