Barangays Receive Financial Assistance from the Province

Gov. Hilario Davide III distributed more than 6M financial assistance to 23 barangays in the second district last March 19.

On March 16, the Provincial Board (PB) approved several resolutions for the implementation of barangay projects.

Some barangays from Samboan, Argao, Malabuyoc, Boljoon, and Badian are the recipients of the cash assistance from the Province’s development fund.

Barangay Captain Benjamin Entoma of Lumbang, Dalaguete said that the assistance he received is for the multi-purpose building in their barangay.

“Ang among tukuron nga multi-purpose building adunay health center sa ground floor unya sa second floor kay mga offices para sa barangay (We will build a two-storey multi-purpose building that will have a health center in the ground floor and barangay offices on the second floor),” said Entoma.

For Barangays Ubaub and Linut-od in Argao, the assistance is for the rehabilitation of the damaged roads and footbridges caused by the tropical depression Queenie last December.

In Calagasan, Argao, the barangay was heavily flooded during the typhoons last year. The barangay plans to purchase materials for the construction of culverts for the creeks and brooks to avoid flooding in the future.

Most of the barangay projects include road reconstructions and rehabilitations, multi-purpose buildings, day care centers, and barangay halls.

“Kami dako ug pagsalig kaninyo nga kining maong pundo, bisan ginagmay lang, makahatag kini ug kaayuhan sa mga kabarangayan aron makapahimulos gyud ang mga lumulupyo (We have great faith in you that you will use this financial aid, however small, for the benefity of the constituents in your barangay),” Davide said.

A construction of a two-storey multi-purpose building and a covered court, now in its last phase in Barangay Lupon and an covered court, now being constructed, in Barangay South Granada (both in Boljoon) were supported by the development assistance fund of the governor.

Congressman Wilfredo Caminero, who was present during the distribution, congratulated the barangay captains who came to receive their financial assistance from the provincial government.

During his speech, Caminero expressed his deep passion to deliver services to the marginal sector. An upcoming program, which was born through the collaboration of the congressman and the governor, was introduced during Caminero’s speech.

“Kining programa maoy mutugkad sa panginahanglanon sa atong mga mang-uuma sa atong mga kabukiran. Kinahanglan ato silang hugpungon aron og naay ayuda gikan sa gobyerno, dali silang makadawat (This program aims to provide for the needs of our farmers. We must unite them so that they will immediately receive whatever the government has to offer),” Caminero added.

The program is called “Basic Farm Implement for Marginal Farmers.” Caminero said that they are still in the process of making this program possible.

This program aims to provide the basic farming kit, which includes throwel (gona), bolo (sundang) and spud bar (bara).

The farmers that will benefit from the program are those who are involved or a member of a certain farmer’s organization.

There were 23 barangays that received their development financial assistance represented by their barangay captains on Wednesday, March 19 at the Boljoon Covered Court.

Boljoon Mayor Merlou Derama, Provincial Board (PB) members Christopher Baricuatro and Peter John Calderon were also present during the distribution.
