‘Bangon Bohol’ Launched, More Reliefs Coming
Amid pressing calls to help Bohol as its residents are still struggling to survive after last Tuesday’s tragic incident, various groups were formed with the aim to extend the needed assistance.
Groups like “Bangon Bohol” and “Oplan Bangon Bohol” were launched to channel help to the devastated province. Non-government organizations, based all over the country, and even news agencies, have also stepped up to bring donations to the different towns of Bohol especially that most of the roads and bridges in the province are impassable.
“A few hours since we launched the fund-raising campaign, several friends called up to ask how they can send in their donation. It’s really heart-warming,” said Fr. Tito Soquiño, president of the Knight-Stewards of the Sea, Inc., an NGO based in Cebu.
The group is set to distribute relief goods in Loon and Maribojoc, Bohol on Friday.
Soquiño said everyone should help as there are still towns in Bohol not reached by the rescue and relief workers. He said his group will try to reach to as many areas as possible.
