Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in this town recently recovered a vintage bomb in barangay Magsaysay Hill.

Police Chief Inspector Villegas Claveria, chief of police said the 200 kilo and 4 feet vintage bomb was believed to have been dropped by American bombers during the second world war.

He said the bomb was buried inside the lot of King’s College of the Philippines (KCP).

“A backhoe operator of the school unearthed the bomb while doing excavation in a lot for new building. This is the biggest bomb recovered so far in Nueva Vizcaya,” Villegas said.

Claveria suspected that the bomb did not explode due to the low altitude of the plane when it was dropped.

He said the area where the bomb was found was a former camp 8 of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.

Claveria said they are now waiting for the assistance of the Philippine Army and PNP ordinance and explosives experts to further assess and evaluate if the bomb is still active.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
