Baby Born in Flight
An airplane landed in Los Angeles with one more passenger than when it took off after a passenger gave birth shortly after Southwest Airlines Flight 623 took off from San Francisco Tuesday morning.
The Phoenix-bound jet diverted to Los Angeles International Airport.
Airline spokeswoman Emily Samuels said the woman passenger was assisted by the flight crew, a doctor and a nurse who were aboard.
Report said members of Fire Department of Los Angeles with firefighter-paramedics boarded the airplane taking the mother and newborn to a hospital in good condition.
The aircraft was taken out of service for cleaning and the other passengers went on to Phoenix aboard another plane, arriving more than two hours behind schedule, report said.
Samuels said the airline hopefully has a new customer for life.
