Austria Imposes New Safety Rules on National Airlines
Vienna (PNA/Xinhua) — Austria’s air authority on Friday required the country’s national airlines to always have two pilots in cockpit during a flight.
The requirement became effective on Friday, Austro Control, the Austrian air authority, said in a statement.
The move came after the latest recommendation by the European Aviation Safety Agency on Friday, which says that at least two people should stay in airplane cockpits at all times.
The recommendation follows the crash of Germanwings’ airplane on Tuesday that killed all 150 people on board. Investigations have showed that the co-pilot locked himself in the cockpit and deliberately caused the plane crash in the southern French Alps. (PNA/Xinhua) JBP/PJN
