DOLE and its international partners aim to foster dialogue, share best practices, and dePH Hosts ASEAN Workshop on Labor Market Information and Digital Intermediaries

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will host a three-day workshop from February 11-13 in Makati to enhance labor market policies and skills development in the ASEAN region.

The event will bring together ASEAN member states, international organizations, and development partners to improve labor market information systems and digital labor market intermediaries.

The workshop is organized in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under the RECOTwin project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is also supported by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Sessions on February 11-12 will focus on how labor market information can shape employment and skills policies amid green and digital economic shifts. Participants will discuss labor market data’s role, identify policy priorities, and explore regional cooperation to address capacity and infrastructure gaps.

A key highlight will be the launch of the Regional Mapping Report of Labor Market Information for Skills and Employment Policies in ASEAN Member States, which presents an analysis of current challenges, best practices, and recommendations. The ILO will also share its latest estimates on occupational skill trends for 2030-2035.

On February 13, discussions will focus on policy development for digital labor market intermediaries. ASEAN member states will work on refining regulations for digital platforms that support recruitment and employment placement, ensuring efficiency while maintaining fair labor practices and developing policies that support a sustainable and inclusive workforce in the ASEAN region through this initiative.
