ArTabang Charity Raises P50 Million
Fundraising and charity event ArTabang 3 has raised around P50 million in just 5 hours during its successful exhibit and auction of the Filipino artists’ artworks on Saturday, December 7 at the Oakridge Business Park, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City.
ArTabang aims to showcase and give recognition to underrated local artists and talents. ArTabang featured and showcased the finest artworks of Filipinos all over the Philippines and prominent personalities were present to bid their choice of artwork.
The fundraising event aims to help victims of the Mindanao earthquake and the recent devastation caused by Typhoon Tisoy.
“Tonight, every sale we make, for the auction pieces, 50% will go to the beneficiaries, and the other 50% will go to the artists’ organization. For the individual paintings that they are selling, 100% will go to them,” said Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, who is one of the organizers of the event.
The Sacred Heart School for Boys – Batch ’85 was also the organizer of the event. Beneficiaries of the charity event are the artists’ organizations such as Art Association of the Philippines, Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines Inc., Art Association of Bacolod, Orange Project, Viva Excon Organization Inc., Onse, MASS: Mobile Art and Science Space, Block 17 Cebu Artists, Inc., and Southwestern Art Club.
In 2013, the first ArTabang fundraising, where P6 million worth of paintings were sold intended for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
The Sacred Heart School for Boys – Batch 85 Foundation is set to donate the proceeds to the charitable institutions. (MLC)
