Army Reservist Matteo Guidicelli Talks to Basilan Youth
Army Reservist 2nd Lt. Matteo Guidicelli on Tuesday, Sept. 17, encouraged around 5,000 youth of Basilan State College to be active players in peace-promoting activities and development programs of the province, as part of the Army’s continuous efforts in instilling patriotism among the youth.
Prior to the engagement, Guidicelli and First Scout Ranger Regiment Commander Brig. Gen. William Gonzales visited the 101st Infantry Brigade in Isabela and the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion in Lamitan, Basilan to boost the morale of the troops.
“As long as you study hard and follow your teachers, mangyayari ‘yang mga pangarap mo,” said Guidicelli to one of the students who shared her dreams for herself and for the province.
During the forum, Guidicelli encouraged the students to use their potential to serve and showcase the beauty of Basilan and counter the public’s negative perception about the island province. He added that the students will play an important role in promoting Basilan’s tourism that will lead to more opportunities for its development.
He also reminded them to respect their parents, love God and country, persevere for their aspirations, and be responsible in exercising their freedom especially in using social media.
“We need to constantly remind our youth about the value of patriotism and selfless service. We want to give them all the opportunities for growth and development being our country’s hope for the future,” said Army Spokesperson Lt. Col. Ramon P. Zagala. (Philippine Army PR)
