Argao Gets P16.5-M For Public Market, FSTP Building, Hospital Lot
The public market of the municipality of Argao got a facelift on its stalls. The public market now looks revitalized, clean and orderly.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III released a P5.5 million for the construction of the new stalls last year. He also shelled out P5 million for the construction of province’s first Farmer Scientist Training Program (FSTP) building.
Another Php 5 million was also released to buy a hectare of property for the proposed relocation of Argao District Hospital. The funds were downloaded to the municipal government.
According the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Municipal Administrator GeymarPamat, the municipal government also provided its counterpart for the market stalls and FSTP building.
The newly built market stalls has four (4) buildings. The municipal government rented out the stalls for P1,600 per month. The vendors were the ones who purchased and installed their roller doors. Hence, they were allowed to deduct P500 per month from the rental fee until their expenses are settled.
The FSTP building will be used as training site of the new batch of FSTP participants. It standson a municipal-owned property in Barangay Candabong. Its floor area has a total of 945 square meters. More than half of the area is utilized as a covered court. The rest was constructed with an office, conference room, laboratory and a dormitory in the second floor.
OIC Provincial Agriculturist Dr. RoldanSaragena said the funds for the FSTP building came from the governor’s development fund. He said the facility will be used to as venue for various FSTP activities for farmers in the second district and the newly created seventh district.
Contractor Albert Gabuya said they estimate to finish the construction in April.
Argao is one of the premier towns going deep into the southeast Cebu- administratively identified as the second district of the province.
