Approaching LPA Unlikely to Become a Cyclone: PAGASA

Published

on

PAGASA on Wednesday said their weather models currently show that the LPA has little chance of becoming a cyclone while inside the PAR.

PAGASA added that the LPA might enter the PAR late Thursday or early Friday. Currently, PAGASA said it is unlikely that the LPA might become a typhoon..

However, PAGASA said they are not discounting the possibility of the LPA becoming a cyclone as it is still at sea and could gain more strength.

Should the LPA become a cyclone while inside the PAR, it will be locally codenamed Seniang, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said once it becomes a typhoon, it may attack Eastern Visayas.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said that as of 4 a.m., the LPA was estimated at 1,500 km east-southeast of Mindanao.

Rain over parts of Luzon

PAGASA’s bulletin also showed the Northeast Monsoon still affecting northern Luzon.

It said that the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will experience cloudy skies with light rain. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, it added.

In the rest of the country, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to east with slight to moderate seas.
