Apple Working On Device That Predict Heart Attacks, Report Says
Apple is reportedly working on a heart-attack prediction device, according to the report by San Francisco Chronicle.
Apple CEO Tim Cook had recently expressed that the company would be expanding into ‘new product categories’, potentially medical devices and cars.
The report claims that Apple is developing sensor technology that would be able to predict heart attacks by listening to the sound of blood flowing through a user’s veins. The effort will be led by audio expert Tomlinson Holman, known for developing notable audio technologies, including Lucasfilm’s THX system and 10.2 surround sound.
In order for Apple’s supposed sensor to monitor the sound of a person’s blood, the device would have to be worn on a person’s body. Therefore, this new information directly points to the continued rumors of an upcoming Apple wearable device, commonly referred to as the iWatch.
Last month some of Apple’s top executives were said to have met the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss the potential for ‘mobile medical applications.’
It has been also claimed that Apple is eyeing electric car pioneer Tesla, hinting to the tech giant’s interest in developing automotive technologies, the report added.
