APL to Refile Salary Increase Petition

Labor group Alliance of Progressive Labor (APL) is now preparing to refile their wage increase petition to the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-7) on behalf of all private workers in Central Visayas.

Despite the approval of the new wage order implementing the P13.00 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), the APL leadership is still fighting for salary increase.

Jose Tumungha, APL President said their reason for asking a salary adjustment is the soaring prices of prime commodities.

In its petition, Tumungha considered the upcoming fare increase of both public utility jeepneys (PUJ) and passenger buses, including the incoming adjustment rates of Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) water bills.

According to Tumungha they will refile their petition for salary increase after their first petition was disapproved by the regional wage board.

Tumungha, however, said that their new salary increase petition may be lower than the P132 they had asked in their first petition.

He added that they will not stop their request for a higher salary because of the apparent supervening conditions that affects the economic status of workers here in Central Visayas.
