Amazon Is Now Officially in the TV Set Business
Amazon revealed its first line-up of Amazon built-in TVs: the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series and the 4-Series Smart TV Line last Thursday, September 9th with both TVs set for an October release.
The ecommerce titan has been teaming with Fire TV-based product makers and has been selling Fire TV devices that require a third-party HDTV plugin for years and now has launched its way to the official TV set business.
The Amazon Fire TV Omni Series provides a hands-free Alexa voice navigation system and the price starts at $410 and up. This series has a Dolby Vision feature.
The 4-Series Smart TV Line includes an Alexa voice remote but doesn’t support the voice navigation system. It starts less expensive than the Fire TV Omni Series at $370 and up. The 4-Series supports Dolby Digital Plus.
In addition, Amazon is adding specific Alexa Conversations features to let you query Alexa using voice command for TV recommendations. The company is betting on the ambience, hands-free controls, and interactive commands that would give them the edge against other TV competitors in the market.
The Amazon built-in TVs will be available in the United States starting next month exclusively at amazon.com and Best Buy.
