ALU-TUCP Seeks to Abolish RTWPB
The Association Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines(ALU-TUCP) has initiated a move to abolish the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) due to its alleged failure to serve the interest and welfare of private workers in Central Visayas.
In a radio interview, RTWBP-7 Labor Representative Atty. Ernesto Carreon said ALU-TUCP Partylist Representative Reymund Mendoza will soon file a bill seeking the abolition of RTWPB because, he said, it is no longer serving its functions.
Carreon said Representative Mendoza has sought to transfer RTWPB’s functions in determining the wage increase to Congress.
Carreon, who is also one of the RTWPB’s board members, said that he supports Cong. Mendoza’s move.
He said he was discouraged on the latest wage board order making P13.00 increase on the Cost of Living Allowance(COLA) for private workers in Central Visayas.
He described the said order as an insult to the labor sector who was expecting a higher wage increase this year because of various
calamities that hit the region.
