Alpha Sigma Phi Philippines Inc. 5th Bloodletting on December 3, 2016
All is set for the 5th Bloodletting activity of the Alpha Sigma Phi Phils Inc. on Saturday, December 3, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the second level of Parkmall in Mandaue City.
Held in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, the whole-day activity serves as opening salvo for the 171st Founding Anniversary celebration of the fraternity and is conducted simultaneously nationwide in major cities where the group has members, both alumni and undergraduates.
Through this voluntary blood donation drive, the Alpha Sigma Phi hopes to augment the blood supply of Red Cross so it can readily serve patients who might need it, says Engr Antonio P Tompar, national president of ASP.
With the slogan “Hazing Kills, Save Life, Give Blood”, the group calls for cessation of hazing activities and its appropriate replacement of worthwhile initiatives where the fraternity can show to the community that it is a caring organization.
“Instead of physical hazing, we require recruits and members to donate blood instead by joining the bloodletting activity,” Tompar said.
The blood donation drive on Saturday is open to other fraternities and volunteers. All they have to do is proceed to the venue, says Jill Leorna, Donor Recruitment Officer of Red Cross.
All donors will receive the Red Cross Blood Donor Card that entitles them top priority when they need blood.
