Allwinner A33-Powered HP 7 G2 & HP 8 G2 Tablets Go on Sale
Zhuhai, China — Recently, Allwinner Technology announced alongside Hewlett Packard the availability of Allwinner’s A33-powered HP 7 G2 & HP 8 G2 tablets, both of which are GMS certified.
The Allwinner A33 combines four Cortex-A7 cores with Mali400MP2 graphics to deliver excellent system performance with extremely low power consumption. Priced around $4, the A33 also features 1080p video process, an integrated MIPI DSI controller, integrated Hi-Fi audio codec and Allwinner’s SmartColor display technology, among other features, and is touted to be the most cost-efficient quad-core tablet processor. Since its announcement in June this year, the Allwinner A33 has been chosen by global tablet ODMs & OEMs, and has shipped over a million units.
In terms of tablet specifications, the HP Tablet 7 G2 comes equipped with a quad core 1.2 GHz Allwinner A33 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage plus a MicroSD card slot, a 7.0-inch 720p screen, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. The HP 8 G2 has a 7.85-inch screen with a 1,024×768 pixel screen, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus a MicroSD slot, stereo speakers, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity. Both devices run Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
This is not the first Allwinner – Hewlett Packard collaboration with the aim of providing high performance tablets at affordable price points. Besides the HP 7 G2 and HP 8 G2, HP unveiled a couple of well-reputed tablets powered by Allwinner’s processors in the past year, including the HP 7 Plus, the Compaq 8 and others, each favored by millions of tablet users worldwide.
