Aggravation
“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14: 29-30
“Tremble and [a] do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent” Psalm 4:4
Aggravation is really a slow-burning anger. The more aggravated we get, the angrier we become until finally we lash out. Suddenly we can be more guilty before God than the one who aggravated us! It is important to recognize aggravation before it gets out of control. When we are aggravated at someone, let’s try these helpful steps–pray for that person, think of something good in that person, and get to know that person. When we learn why they behave a certain way, we may find our aggravation turning to compassion.
