Acting Cebu City Vice Mayor Recognizes Top Council Performers, Term-Enders
Acting Cebu City Vice Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. has recognized the top performers in the Cebu City Council last year and those whose three consecutive terms will end this year from 2007 to 2016.
Archival, the presiding officer of the council, also handed out plaques of recognition to councilors who had no absences during their sessions in 2015.
Archival took over the post vacated by Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella who assumed as acting mayor after Mayor Michael Rama was suspended for two months by the Office of the President.
Archival recognized Cebu City Councilors Sisinio Andales, Alvin Arcilla, Gerardo Carillo, Eugenio Gabuya Jr., Lea Japson and Mary Ann delos Santos who have no absences during their sessions last year.
Councilors Margarita Osmeña, Andales and Japson were alsorecognized for passing the most number of resolutions, with 831, 425 and 337, respectively.
Those recognized for the most number of ordinances passed were Japson with nine ordinances, followed by Alvin Dizon with eight ordinances and Nida Cabrera with five ordinances.
Archival also recognized last-termer councilors RobertoCabarrubias, Japson and Richard Osmeña.
Archival said the council has approved a total of 1,858 resolutions and 22 ordinances and conducted 71 sessions, including executive and special sessions in 2015.
“Despite our difference in political affiliations, personal convictions, we made sure that we accomplish our primary duties as elected representatives of our constituents and that is to legislate,” he said in a privilege speech. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
