Accenture Supports Robotics Competition, Urges Students to Get into STEM
Accenture in the Philippines recently supported the 2nd Compass Education Robotics STEM Cup in Cebu, to inspire students ages six to 16 to learn more about technology and how it improves the way we work and live.
Organized by non-profit organization Compass Education, the robotics competition is aligned with Accenture’s advocacy to make STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects more interesting to today’s youth, who will be the future leaders of the Information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry.
Aside from sponsoring the competition and judging the entries, Accenture also showed the student participants how the latest technologies are revolutionizing work and life across the world over–from smart homes to smart cars, and online video streaming to car-sharing mobile applications. Arvin Yason, managing director for Technology at Accenture in the Philippines, urged the students to “Open your imagination. Think of how things can be improved by leveraging technology, and don’t forget to have fun while at it.”
Accenture hosted all the entries in the Creatives Category of the robotics competition on the Accenture Philippines Facebook page. Team Siloy received special prizes for garnering the most number of social media interactions. According to Yason, Accenture will continue to work with schools and other organizations like Compass Education, to help promote creativity among today’s youth in this digitally-driven world. “With the help of parents and teachers, Accenture is committed to work closely with different stakeholders to get the youth more interested in their STEM classes and hone their creativity which are important components of innovation and the future.”
Meanwhile, Accenture featured on its Accenture Philippines Facebook page, all the entries in the Creatives Category of the 2nd Compass Education Robotics STEM Cup.
