Accenture Philippines was recognized as the second runner-up award in the Gender-Inclusive Workplace category in this year’s United Nations (UN) Asia-Pacific Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards.

The UN Asia-Pacific WEPs Gender-Inclusive Workplace category recognizes the achievements of companies in implementing innovative initiatives that provide equal employment opportunities and flexible work arrangements. It also looks at accelerative actions that promote the safety and well-being of its people while also driving equality in terms of pay, career development, and company leadership.

“As a people-focused company, Accenture is proud of our journey in creating a work environment that promotes equality, fosters inclusivity, and embraces diversity. We are deeply honored and grateful to receive the recognition from UN Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards. It inspires us to continue cultivating an inclusive culture and a strong sense of community among our Filipino men, women, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. By making our people feel that they belong and are valued, they can innovate in ways that benefit not only our company and clients but more so the communities we serve,” said Lito Tayag, Country Managing Director, Accenture in the Philippines.

Accenture’s commitment to accelerating equality in the workplace starts from the top and is integral in the company’s key initiatives. Globally, Accenture has set bold goals to achieve 50 percent women and 50 percent men by 2025, for those whose gender is binary. The company has already achieved this milestone in the Philippines, with women representing more than 50 percent of its current workforce. In addition to this goal, the company is committed to inclusivity across the spectrum of gender diversity including non-binary people, with a view to continuing to evolve its goals and programs.

“Accenture’s commitment to our people and accelerating equality for all has never been more relevant than it is today. We approach gender equality on all fronts – from talent acquisition, development, promotion and engagement – to creating impactful programs and policies to support our 2025 goal within the organization. This empowers our people to access the same opportunities, health, and well-being initiatives as well as training and mentorship programs to help them build and expand their careers in the company,” said Ira Reyes, Country Human Resources Lead, Accenture in the Philippines.

Accenture has also been a trailblazer in driving inclusion and diversity in the IT-BPM industry in the Philippines. Among its notable initiatives for its people are:

  • Expanded Parental Benefits: Since 2015, Accenture has expanded its parental-leave benefits to help enable employees to attend to family responsibilities while cultivating a thriving career. Female employees may take up to 120 consecutive days of paid leave, while male employees have the option to go on a 30-consecutive-day paid leave. In addition, eligible employees have access to an inclusion and diversity leave, adoption leave, and a secondary-caregiver leave.
  • EDGE Certification: Accenture is the first to receive the EDGE Move Certification in the Philippines from Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE), a leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality.
