During this time of unprecedented challenge due to COVID-19 pandemic, Aboitiz Construction remains committed to advancing business and most importantly advancing the communities they serve across the country. “While we do our part in making sure our own employees are well taken care of during this time, we have also stepped up our corporate social responsibility efforts by reallocating 100% of our 2020 CSR budget of 2.250M to support One Aboitiz’s COVID-19 response in aiding the families across the country in need of food, health and safety supplies.” says Alberto A. Ignacio, President and CEO, Aboitiz Construction

On April 7, spearheaded by Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., Aboitiz Construction joined the other business units present in Balamban, Cebu, namely AboitizLand, Inc., Cebu Industrial Park Developers, Inc. and Balamban Enerzone in turning over food supplies to the local government unit of Balamban. These business units have successfully turned over canned goods composed of 4889 cans of sardines and 2903 cans of beef loaf, in support to the 2,210 families in Barangay Arpili and other neighboring barangays.

Aboitiz Construction has been present at the West Cebu Industrial Park (WCIP) in Balamban for 13 years, operating as the international arm of the company (Aboitiz Construction International, Inc.) composed of 2 parts, the modular fabrication facility, and the THI hull fabrication teams, which cater to various industries and projects locally and globally.

The company has also been actively involved in implementing efforts to aid its own employees during this COVID-19 situation. To name a few, they have released the March month-end salary and 13th or 14th month pay in advance. For the project team members who have no work and are stranded in the barracks due to the community lockdown, accommodation, strictest safety/health monitoring, and daily meals are provided for free for a month.

As of this writing, the Aboitiz Group as a whole has successfully contributed around P130 million to public and private campaigns nationwide in support of the communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the P100million which was recently donated to Project Ugnayan, in partnership with the Philippine Disaster Relief Foundation and in collaboration among local companies.

Amid the uncertainties caused by COVID-19, Aboitiz Construction stays true and committed to the Aboitiz Group’s long-term initiatives and efforts in coming together to help our people, government, communities, and frontliners address this pandemic.
