NNC 7 Launches NNC 7 Radio for Nutrition
National Nutrition Council 7 (NNC 7) in partnership with Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) launched their internet radio station, NNC 7 Radio on Monday, April 8 in NNC R7 Office, DOH CHD 7 Compound, Cebu City.
The advocacy of NNC 7 to promote health and proper nutrition led them to conceptualize the internet radio in hopes of spreading correct information and promoting good health habits while entertaining their audiences.
NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita Mission said that the NNC 7 radio would help maximize the internet in advocating for good health and proper nutrition.
Also present in the launching was MIND 7 Vice President for Radio Anabelle Lagrosas, she said that in dissemination of information in the tri-media (TV, Radio, and Print) was not enough a and that the internet radio would be a big help in spreading information to Filipinos.
“We are here because we want to have the correct information,” Atty. Cynthia Barte, Legal Counsel of Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) said in the launching of NNC 7 Radio.
Barte also urges the community to be more vigilant in getting the right information.
Before the conception of the internet radio, NNC 7 developmental programs and advocacies were aired with the partner radio stations of MIND 7 to help promote and deliver correct information to the people but with the rise of the usage of the internet and social media the council developed the internet radio to cater the tech savvy generation.
NNC 7 Radio Manager, Bong Roxas said that the internet radio is for the new generation, it is important to spread the message about proper nutrition to young Filipinos.
Dir. Jaime Bernadas, DOH CHD 7 Regional Director said that we are connected on the most critical medium today which is the internet.
Bernadas also said that although social media is more accessible these days, the traditional media, that is the radio is still number one in spreading information in the country, garnering 85% coverage in the country.
Bernadas also added the importance in teaching our children the significance of proper nutrition.
“The more challenging job of every public health practitioner today on how to guide our children. Mothers, parents to really teach and enlighten our children for good nutrition ” Bernadas said..
