DOH6 to Deploy More Nurses for Measles Vaccination Program
The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD)-6 will deploy additional nurses in Western Visayas to augment the measles vaccination operations in priority local government units (LGUs).
Dr. Ma. Julia Villanueva, DOH-CHD 6 OIC Assistant Regional Director, said that about 400 nurses under the DOH Nurse Deployment Program who were deployed in the LGUs have started coordination and vaccination in some schools for the school-based immunization.
“These nurses have been trained under the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI),” she said.
She added that the department is projecting 300 additional nurses to be deployed regionwide for the vaccination operations.
Meanwhile, DOH-CHD-6 has started the full operations of the intensified “Knock-out Tigdas” program in Region 6 on March 18.
Vincent Sumergido, DOH-6 Senior Health Program Officer, said the program is a non-selective vaccination targeting 101 LGUs in the region.
He said the program is targeting 408,687 children in Western Visayas for measles vaccination. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
