Davide, Magpale Distribute Food Packs to 4.4T Seniors in Naga
At least 4,452 senior citizens in the City of Naga received food packs from the Cebu Provincial Government on Tuesday, Sept. 4, during the Halad sa Gugma Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola.
Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale led the distribution, together with Provincial Board Members Yolanda Daan and Raul Bacaltos.
Also present during the distribution were city officials spearheaded by Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong.
“Ang atong gihimo usa kini sa mga programa sa Kapitolyo aron pag-atiman sa atong mga senior citizens,” Davide said.
Magpale, for her part, said that though the food packs contained modest things, these are given heartily by the Capitol.
The Office of the Senior Citizens also received monoblock chairs and tables.
With the City’s 28 barangays having at least 9,800 senior citizens, the distribution is divided in two batches.
Meanwhile, Chiong announced that the cash assistance the senior citizens receive annually would be increased from P1,000 to P1,500 this December.
She also extended her gratitude to the Provincial Government for the continuous support to the City’s programs.
Last week, the governor attended the inauguration of Naga’s new infirmary where the Capitol provided P10 million in assistance for the purchase of equipment.
During the distribution, the City also offered free dental services, massage and haircut for the senior citizens. (CEBU PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT PR)
