1st Wellbeing Cluster Launched in Cebu
Various government, private and civic organizations launched the first Wellbeing Cluster in Cebu at Robinson’s Galleria Cebu last July 31.
Dubbed as “All for Wellbeing, Resilient Together,” this advocacy aims to promote and mainstream psycho-social and mental health programs towards wellness and resiliency in the workplace.
At least 200 people turned up for the launch.
Baltazar Tribunalo Jr., the Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) chief who attended the event, congratulated the stakeholders for collaborating in coming up with such a noble event.

The organizations behind the program are Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Humanitarian Leadership Academy, Plan International-Philippines, Department of Health Central Visayas, Cebu Provincial Government-Human Resource Department, Bohol Consortium Humanitarian Assistance, Action Against Hunger, Central Visayas Network of NGOs, Cebu Youth Ambassadors, Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid, Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation Inc., Philippine Red Cross, Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tuklas Innovation Labs, Start Network, Transforming Surge Capacity, Archdiocese of Dumaguete Social Action Center, University of San Carlos, Cebu Provincial Government and local government units in the Visayas regions.
Tribunalo said it is good that the Wellbeing Cluster is designed as “community-based, people-based, people sender response” that addresses the humanitarian concerns.
He said he is also happy that the government, through the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, has implemented the Mental Health Law.
Hitenda Solanki, mindfulness and wellbeing advisor and a member of the Action Against Hunger UK, cited a survey showing that 79 percent, or 596, of the 754 humanitarian aid workers experienced mental health issues, of which 93 percent, or 701 of them, experienced depression and anxiety that would get in the way of helping others.
