Yapha Files Protest vs Gwen

Former Pinamungajan Mayor Geraldine Yapha filed an election protest before the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET)against third district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia.

Yapha, who lost the election to Garcia by 1,984 votes, asked the election tribunal for a recount of the votes in her district. Garcia was among the last winners proclaimed after the May 13 elections after a close fight with Yapha. Garcia garnered 105,424 votes winning over Yapha’s 103,440. Yapha appealed to the electoral tribunal to retrieve all ballot boxes in the 434 clustered precincts and to recount the votes.
