US, NoKor to Discuss ‘New Relations,’ Denuclearization

The upcoming US-North Korean talks will focus on the establishment of new relations between the countries, the creation of a peace system and denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, the North Korean media reported Monday.

“During the US-North Korean talks, a broad exchange of views will take place, during which the parties will discuss, in particular, the current issues for both countries regarding the formation of new relations between the United States and the North Korea, as well as the establishment of a lasting and permanent peace and the implementation of the denuclearization process of the Korean peninsula,” the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The summit of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is scheduled for June 12 in Singapore. Trump and Kim arrived in Singapore on Sunday.

On Sunday, the White House said that representatives of the United States and North Korea would hold a meeting on Monday in Singapore ahead of the historic summit. US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim will lead US delegation for a working group meeting with North Korean delegation at 10 a.m. local Singapore time (02:00 GMT). (Sputnik)
